Important summary
The Lighted Path is an educational service for families. A parent, carer, school, or authorised adult must supervise child use, protect account and QR access, and decide whether lessons are appropriate for each learner. The service supports learning but is not a substitute for personalised religious, educational, medical, or professional advice.
1. Agreement to these terms
By accessing or using The Lighted Path, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you create an account or child profile, you confirm that you are legally able to accept these terms and have authority to provide and manage the associated information. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. The service
The Lighted Path provides age-banded Islamic learning materials, videos, activities, lesson progression, reflection options, child-device access, and parent-visible learning summaries. Some lessons may be available without an account. Features, curriculum, availability, and access arrangements may change as the service develops.
Educational content is prepared and reviewed with care, but users should raise religious questions requiring a personal ruling or pastoral context with a suitably qualified scholar or trusted local authority.
3. Adult accounts and child access
- Primary family accounts are for parents, carers, or other authorised adults.
- You must provide accurate account information and keep your sign-in method secure.
- You are responsible for activity under your account and for promptly revoking a lost or shared child-device session.
- QR codes and manual pairing codes must be shared only with the intended child and trusted supervising adults.
- A child-device session may access only its paired learner profile and cannot access parent or staff areas.
- You must have appropriate authority to create a child profile and provide the child information you enter.
4. Appropriate use
You must not:
- use the service unlawfully, deceptively, abusively, or in a way that harms a child or another person;
- attempt to access another family’s, child’s, or staff member’s account, records, sessions, or administration tools;
- share adult credentials publicly or bypass access, progress, pairing, safety, rate-limit, or security controls;
- upload or submit malicious code, automated spam, unlawful material, or personal secrets belonging to another person;
- scrape, copy, republish, resell, or commercially exploit the service or curriculum except with written permission;
- reverse engineer or interfere with the service except where applicable law expressly permits it; or
- misrepresent generated completion or progress information as an accredited qualification.
5. Child safety and submissions
Adults are responsible for supervising child use and teaching children not to enter identifying details or secrets into lesson fields. Optional typed reflections may be checked for relevance and sensitive content as described in the Privacy Policy. Lesson feedback is limited and is not crisis monitoring, counselling, diagnosis, or emergency assistance.
If a child may be in immediate danger or requires urgent support, contact local emergency or safeguarding services and a trusted responsible adult rather than relying on this website.
6. Learning records and progress
Progress, activity, assessment, consistency, and concept-support information is intended to help families understand participation and plan further learning. It is not a clinical, psychological, theological, or formal academic assessment. “Secure for now” and similar labels describe bounded evidence in this curriculum and do not guarantee permanent mastery.
7. Intellectual property
The service, original curriculum structure, software, artwork, lesson designs, branding, and original written materials are owned by or licensed to The Lighted Path and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use available content for ordinary family or expressly authorised educational use.
Quranic text, hadith, traditional source material, and third-party media remain subject to their respective status, attribution, and rights. Nothing in these terms claims ownership over source material that is not ours.
8. Third-party services and links
The service relies on third parties including Clerk, Google, Railway, Resend, and YouTube. Their services may be unavailable or governed by their own terms and privacy policies. External links are provided for convenience and do not make us responsible for third-party content or conduct.
9. Availability, changes, and account action
We may maintain, change, suspend, or discontinue features, lessons, or access where reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, curriculum review, service improvement, or operational reasons. We may restrict or terminate access for material or repeated breach of these terms, suspected compromise, fraud, abuse, or danger to users or the service. Where practical and appropriate, we will provide notice or an opportunity to resolve the issue.
10. Fees
All lessons are currently free. Lesson 1 is available without an account; Lesson 2 onward requires a parent account or a valid parent-managed child session. Before introducing a paid product, the applicable price, renewal, cancellation, and refund terms will be shown before purchase and these terms may be updated accordingly.
11. Disclaimers and responsibility
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided on an “as available” basis. We do not promise uninterrupted operation, compatibility with every device, permanent availability of third-party media, or that all content will be error-free. You remain responsible for supervision, device and internet access, and decisions made using the service.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies consumer guarantees, privacy rights, or other rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. To the extent liability can lawfully be limited, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of or inability to use the service.
12. Changes, applicable law, and contact
We may update these terms when the service or applicable requirements change. The effective date will be updated, and material changes may be communicated through the service. These terms are governed by applicable law, and mandatory rights and dispute forums available to you are not displaced.
Questions about these terms can be sent to adeel@adeelhashmi.com.
